Fly Fishing Only Adventures offers guided fishing trips on the Yellowstone River, Stillwater River, Rock Creek, Big Horn River and other local waters near Red Lodge, Montana. Each presents plenty of opportunity to catch and release wild trout.

The Stillwater River is a great trout stream. The clean, cold water cascading out of the Beartooth Mountains into the valley below holds great numbers of rainbow and brown trout. You will float in a raft custom rigged for fishing. The day will be split between wade fishing some of the better runs and fishing from the boat as we float between the better runs.

The Yellowstone River is the longest free flowing river in the nation. It is a large river that provides the opportunity to catch beautiful rainbow and brown trout. Because of its large, wild nature, the Yellowstone River is the last river in the area to clear from run-off. We fish the Yellowstone when it clears through the fall. Because of the size of the river, we use a drift boat to access its plentiful riffles and long runs.

Fly fishing either river may include stripping streamers from the boat, casting hopper-dropper rigs after that, wade fishing the riffles with a nymph in the afternoon, and casting dry flies to rising trout in the evening. Based upon the time of year, your guide will suggest fishing the river with the best opportunities. If vacation schedules allow, many anglers choose to spend a day on each river.

Each trip is customized to fit the anglers' individual needs, abilities, and schedule. All gear, lunch and transportation are provided. Although early planning is encouraged, last minute signups may be available, so don't hesitate to call 406-425-1761.

This outfit is operated by local expert, Andy Szofran, who shares his 30 years of fishing and over 25years of guiding experience to teach beginners and improve the skills of seasoned anglers. Andy fishes 250+ days a year and enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of the sport with others.
