Yellowstone Country Events in March

Yellowstone Country doesn’t lay dormant waiting for spring. Communities across the region keep the winter hype alive with events both indoors and outdoors. From Broadway theater to the thrilling sport of skijoring, it’s easy to find entertainment to take you right through the final stretch of winter.



Winter Fest
March 1 – March 10, 2019
Red Lodge, Montana
Full of outdoor enthusiasts with jovial spirits, Winter Fest in Red Lodge brings everyone out for two weeks of friendly (albeit serious) competitions, family activities, food, libations and fireworks! Be sure to check out the Cardboard Classic where contestants build masterful sledding vessels, don costumes and hit the slopes to see who can make it down the fastest!

MAMMA MIA!
March 1 – March 24, 2019
Dulcie Theatre, Shane Lalani Center for the Arts
Livingston, Montana
The smash hit jukebox musical based on the songs of ABBA comes to life at The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts. You’ll love this story about a mother, a daughter, three possible dads, and a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget.



Snowshoe Shuffle
March 2, 2019
Madison Base, Big Sky Resort, Montana
Bring your four-legged friends to the Madison Base area after the ski day and enjoy a torchlit snowshoe hike. Return to a warm chili dinner and raffle, with proceeds going to Heart of the Valley Humane Society.

Kids ’N’ Snow
March 2 – 3, 2019
West Yellowstone, Montana
If you haven’t yet experienced a weekend of Kids ’N’ Snow in West Yellowstone, this is your last chance of the season. Aiming to take the fear out of winter events, kids experience a variety of winter activities all in the name of fun. Think: snowmobile rides, sled dog rides, snowshoeing, snow art, skating, sledding and, of course, s’mores!

Kinky Boots

Annual Hog Roast, Upper Yellowstone Snowmobile Club
March 8 – 9, 2019
Cooke City, Montana
Now in its 23rd year, the Annual Hog roast is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. The weekend kicks off with a wine tasting and silent auction. The snowmobile poker run starts bright and early Saturday morning, and the day culminates with a full hog roast, complete with all the fixings. Proceeds go toward trail grooming and maintenance.

Skijor West
Skijor USA National Championship Finals
March 9 – 10, 2019
West Yellowstone, Montana
If you’re not familiar with the sport of skijoring, imagine a mounted horseback rider pulling a skier over jumps and through race gates in hopes of getting the quickest time or the longest jump. Put it this way—it’s a great spectator sport! Round out the weekend with live music by Sam Platts and the Great Plainsman, enjoy intricate ice sculptures, or cheer on your favorite canine in the Dog Keg Pull competition.



Snowmobile EXPO and Powersports Show
March 15 – 17, 2019
West Yellowstone, Montana
The annual Snowmobile EXPO never disappoints. Check out the new 2020 lines, with demos available from Ski-Doo and Arctic Cat. The Vintage Snowmobile Oval Races are always a highlight, and this year’s Octane Additions Snowmobile Rodeo is sure to entertain! Snow Bike fans will love racing or watching the fast-paced snow bike race.



Run to the Pub

Bozeman, Montana
Run to the Pub’s popularity extends far beyond local Bozeman residents. Voted the #2 Best-in-the-U.S half marathon by Runner's World, participants come from across the region for a chance to win one of four all-inclusive trips to Dublin, Ireland to run the Dublin Marathon. Pick out your costume, get ready for a beautiful run, then cross the finish line to a cold beer. Cheers!
